Detachable sleeves and sleeve changes
Two paths. Have a gown already: book alterations so we can see construction. Want sleeves or a removable piece designed in: book a custom consult.
There is no detachable-sleeve catalog on this site. The alterations service list does not use the word "detachable." We route you to the visit that matches your gown.
Visits are by appointment at 8988-F South Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74133.

If you already own the gown
Bridal alterations lists sleeve or strap additions when construction allows. Redesign or remaking parts of a gown you own is possible when construction and timeline allow, starting at the fitting with an estimate.
On redesign, adding or removing sleeves is an example of what a redesign consult can discuss. Alterations refine fit (hem, bustle, bodice ease, closures, and similar work). Redesign changes the design of a gown you already own (neckline, sleeves, silhouette, substantial reconstruction, or heirloom modernization). We do not promise every change. We assess the gown in person, then give you an estimate before work begins.
The alterations guide also notes that straps and sleeves frequently need adjustment, and that more substantial changes can include adding straps, redesigning straps, modifying sleeves, or creating custom sleeves for certain gowns. Construction and timeline decide at the fitting. The blog is not a guarantee.

Book alterationsIf the gown is not made yet
The custom wedding dress guide lists sleeves and straps, and detachable elements, among design decisions. A removable overskirt appears there as an example of why someone commissions. That is not a menu item.
One journal story, Darcey's, describes two different detachable elements designed so she did not need a complete wardrobe change from ceremony to reception (ceremony overlay and bishop sleeves; reception look without the overlay, with dramatic bubble sleeves). That is her commission. It is not a menu item for every bride.
Full custom wedding gowns typically require 8 to 10 months. Custom gowns start at $7,500, with the estimate after consultation.

FAQ
Can you add sleeves to a wedding dress I already bought?
Sometimes. Valentine lists sleeve or strap additions when construction allows, and the redesign page includes adding or removing sleeves. The gown has to be seen before anyone promises the change.
Are detachable sleeves a standard alterations package?
No published package uses that name. "Detachable elements" is language on the custom wedding dress guide, not a line item on the alterations price list.
Can a custom gown be designed with a ceremony sleeve and a reception look?
Custom design can include sleeves and detachable elements. One journal story, Darcey's, describes detachable pieces made so she did not need a full wardrobe change for the reception. That is an example, not a menu.
How much do detachable sleeves cost?
A detachable-sleeve price is not listed. Alterations are estimated after the gown is reviewed. Custom gowns start at $7,500, with the estimate after consultation.
How long does sleeve work take?
Standard alterations turnaround is eight weeks, and we recommend starting 12 to 14 weeks before the wedding. Redesign often needs more time than that. A custom gown typically needs 8 to 10 months. Which clock applies depends on the path.
Do I need an appointment?
