Getting the gown ready for the reception

Guests sometimes call this reception outfit adjustments. On our site, the fit work with that job is a bustle for the gown you already own.

We do not offer a service named reception outfit adjustments. The fit work for that job is a bustle. It lifts the train after the ceremony so you can move at the reception.

Visits are by appointment at 8988-F South Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74133.

Bustle, in the site's words

On bridal alterations, common work includes bustle options suited to your skirt and ceremony. If there is a bustle, you or a helper learn how it works before you leave. Teaching the bustle is a lesson at the final fitting, not a person sent to the wedding.

The alterations guide says a bustle lifts and secures the train after your ceremony so you can walk, dance, and enjoy your reception without dragging several feet of fabric behind you. There are several types of wedding dress bustles, and the right one depends on the construction and design of your gown. We design the bustle around the dress rather than forcing the dress into a standard bustle. We do not name bustle styles here.

Your final fitting is also a good time to bring the person who will help you get dressed on your wedding day so they can learn how the gown fastens and how to use your bustle. That person is yours. This is not Valentine wedding-day assistance.

Timing and estimate

We recommend beginning alterations 12 to 14 weeks before the wedding. Standard turnaround is eight weeks. The final fitting is commonly about two weeks before the wedding.

Basic alterations for gowns without beadwork or lace generally range from $600 to $800. Intricate beadwork, lace, or multi-layer ballgowns often fall between $800 and $1,200 or more. We provide itemized estimates after reviewing your gown. A bustle-only price, or a reception-outfit price, is not listed.

See pricing FAQs and fitting prep for timing and what to bring.

If you want two designed looks

That is a custom commission, not an alterations add-on menu. The custom guide lists detachable elements as a design decision.

Journal stories labeled as those brides' gowns:

  • Darcey: two looks in one, with detachable elements instead of a complete wardrobe change from ceremony to reception
  • Audra: ceremony bubble sleeves and ball gown skirt; for the reception, the bubble sleeves and ball gown skirt were removed
  • Macey: cathedral-length detachable train for the ceremony entrance, then a more manageable gown for the reception

Those are commissions. They are not "adjustments" of a bought reception outfit.

FAQ

Can you adjust my gown so I can dance at the reception?

If the gown has a train, bridal alterations include a bustle that lifts and secures it after the ceremony so you can walk and dance. The right bustle depends on how the dress is built.

Is there a reception outfit adjustment package?

That package is not listed. Book an alterations fitting and the estimate is based on the gown in front of us.

Will someone from the atelier come to the reception?

No visit like that is described. At the final fitting we teach you or a helper how the bustle works before you leave.

Can the gown be designed as a ceremony look and a reception look?

A custom gown can include detachable elements. Journal stories for Darcey, Audra, and Macey show ceremony-to-reception changes on gowns made for them. That is a commission, not a listed alterations extra.

When should I book alterations?

Begin 12 to 14 weeks before the wedding when you can. Standard turnaround is eight weeks.

How much does a bustle cost?

A bustle-only price is not stated. Basic alterations generally range from $600 to $800, and intricate gowns often from $800 to $1,200 or more, with an itemized estimate after review.
